I started designing newsletters in the early 1990's. timagedesign was started around 1995.At first I was using rub-on letters and cutting and pasting pictures before I ran it all through the copier. I even did some work on a "ditto" machine (remember those?) Soon after that, I started designing logos for t-shirts and events that I was doing as a youth pastor. Friends of mine began to ask if I could create some things for them. After awhile, I started to get paid for it. That was really cool.
One of my philosophies is: Find something that you like to do so much that you'd gladly do it for nothing. Then learn to do it so well that people are happy to pay you for it.
In 1995, I decided to come up with a name for my design hobby. I have had the nickname "timage" since I was a kid. I thought that "tim" and "image" was a unique play on words - timagedesign was born.
So I keep playing around, developing my graphic design and web skills, and every once in awhile, a friend will ask me to do a project for them. I'm still learning, but I'm also making a few bucks on the side. Not a bad deal.

I like words. I like to craft a sentence. I have discovered that I can communicate to a lot more people through my writing then I will by speaking and meeting people in person. I can remember my first writings that were ever published were simply ideas and tips for youth pastors. I was so excited to be able to share information with people that I didn't even know.
Now I spend at least an hour a day, writing down ideas, posts for my blog, working on various projects, and simply writing just to write.
Like most people who enjoy writing, I have this sense that there's some books in me. I've got a few outlines and ideas that I'm working toward. I know that a book is in my near future. |

Statistics show that nearly 90% of the world dislikes public speaking. People are afraid to stand up in front of others and talk. I am energized by it. Early on, I found that I had a gift for sharing stories and ideas in a way that motivated, encouraged, and inspired others. I don't say that to brag or prop myself up. It's just one of my strengths.
I'm a firm believer that one should work on one's strength rather than spending time trying to prop up one's weaknesses. I've discovered that I'm not very good at counseling other people, managing finances, or cooking food. I will leave that to others. What's exciting is that more and more people have left the speaking for me.
timagedesign is dedicated to the pursuit of my strengths. It provides a forum, an avenue for me to share some of my skills in the areas of communicating, training, and designing. I still have a lot to learn.
If there's something in here that you find worthwhile and/or meaningful to you, drop me an email and let me know. If I can come alongside and add value to your project or event, I'd like to talk more about that as well. |
